2018, May 14

On 11th and 12th May we were guests of Laminazione Sottile, Italcoat and Contital, companies which are part as IPS of Laminazione Sottile Group.

A tour from Alessandria to Caserta, an opportunity for comparison and training, to further cement the synergy between colleagues and share work methods.

Laminazione Sottile is the parent company of the Group: founded in 1923, is specialized in manufacturing aluminum rolled products specific for different markets. After a classroom training session about Sales, Marketing and Human Resources we examined in depth the production processes. The tour continued around the 150,000 sqm of the plant: foundry, hot rolling mill, cold rolling mill and the preview of the new longitudinal slitting line. Connecting with colleagues in a company with such complex dynamics reminded us of the importance of Quality at the service of Customers: a topic that is top priority for IPS too so we will continue investing many resources on it.

Italcoat manufactures lacquered aluminum, and is part of Laminazione Sottile Group since 1993, the foundation year. "Innovation" was the focus of the visit: the R&D team has shown us how the development of new varnishes on aluminium rolled products allows to offer products with higher added value to customers: higher resistance to corrosion, antimicrobial effect or, as for the patented Hygrosieve® lacquer, a high moisture absorption.

Contital is the last of the Group companies we visited. European leader for the production of aluminum and PET containers, the company showed us the manufacturing processes of a product intended for the end-consumer. Despite the differences in production, Contital and IPS share the compliance to regulations for food contact and it was interesting to discuss these aspects with the Contital Quality Area. The Sales Department introduced us the whole range of aluminium trays, in particular the Semi Smoothwall “Happy Day” line and the new Folded containers, made with the patented Bake-eeze® system.

Exchanging views and sharing knowledge with our colleagues have enriched this experience and we returned to Alessandria with the enthusiasm and the awareness of being part of a big family.
